Van Hollen\u2019s plan to file suit against the federal government over the new health-insurance reform. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/statepolitics\/89110637.html\">http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/statepolitics\/89110637.html<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>If Van Hollen had succeeded, Wisconsin would have joined more than a dozen attorney generals across the nation that are suing to challenge the constitutionality of the health-care reform that\u2019s been approved by Congress.<\/p>\r\n<p>But Van Hollen couldn\u2019t proceed with a suit unless he had approval from Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle or one of the houses of the state Legislature, which are controlled by Democrats. Neither the governor or legislative leaders would give Van Hollen authorization.<\/p>\r\n<p>In arguing in favor of the lawsuit, Van Hollen told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, \u201cThis is an issue of the federal government overreaching beyond what constitutional powers they have, which is an assault on (the Legislature\u2019s) powers.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>But Doyle shot right back in a letter to Van Hollen.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cThe lawsuit you suggest is a frivolous and political attempt to thwart the action of Congress and the law of the country,\u201d Doyle wrote. \u201cThe State of Wisconsin will not enter into litigation intended to deny health care for tens of thousands of residents.\u201d<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wisconsin Democrats have derailed Republican Attorney General J.B.
