Singer Bret Michaels’ fought to stay conscious when he suffered a brain hemorrhage, so his family wouldn’t find him lying sprawled on the floor, and that action probably saved the blond singer’s life, according to his doctor in Arizona.\u00a0http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/#!\/notes\/bret-michaels\/representatives-confirm-michaels-is-being-treated-at-barrow-neurological-institu\/390848012569<\/a><\/p>\r\n

But Michaels is still in serious condition, according to his physican.<\/p>\r\n

Michaels’ camp Friday night on Facebook finally disclosed exactly where the\u00a0Poison frontman is hospitalized and being treated:\u00a0 the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. Barrow is a\u00a0 leading neurological center, as well as\u00a0home of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.\u00a0http:\/\/www.thebarrow.org\/About_Barrow\/About_the_Institute\/index.htm<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Michaels’\u00a0neurologists and neurosurgeons will hold a press conference Tuesday to dicuss his condition, treatment and\u00a0prognosis.<\/p>\r\n

Michaels’ Facebook page, which notes that\u00a0the singer\u00a0appears in People Magazine\u2019s World’s Most Beautiful People of 2010 Issue this week, said\u00a0with his subarachnoid\u00a0hemorrhage was such a\u00a0 life-threatening condition, and out of respect for his family, his\u00a0location was kept secret.<\/p>\r\n

There is a seven to 10 day perod\u00a0“that is extremely critical in which multiple tests are conducted to detect the source of the bleeding,” the Facebook pages says.<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0\u201cThere is no doubt that Mr. Michaels\u2019 condition is serious,” said Dr. Joseph Zabamski,\u00a0 who has been a top neurosurgeon at Barrow\u00a0since 1986,\u00a0serves as the Chief of Cerebrovascular Surgery and Director of Clinical Neurosurgical Research,\u00a0and is leading Michaels\u2019 team.<\/p>\r\n

” We are treating the subarachnoid hemorrhage, which caused his severe cranial pain,\u201d Zabamski said on the Facebook\u00a0\u00a0update. “Mr. Michaels will continue to undergo testing considering we have hit a few roadblocks including hyponatremia, severe cranial and back pain suffered from blood drainage, an emergency appendectomy performed a week earlier and a lifelong history of Type 1 Diabetes.”<\/p>\r\n

But the doctor added,\u00a0\u201cBret\u2019s sheer will to live and fully recover is undeniable. He has an unbelievable fight in him and told me what kept him alive at the moment of the hemorrhage was that he did not want his family to wake up and see him lying unconscious in the middle of the floor.\u00a0It was a combination of Bret\u2019s fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage and get to the emergency room, and the immediate medical attention provided by our staff at Barrow that enabled us to stabilize his condition.\u201d

Tomorrow, on Tuesday,\u00a0 Barrow neurologists and neurosurgeons will hold a\u00a0press conference\u00a0to offer an\u00a0update on his condition, treatment and prognosis in full detail.<\/p>\r\n
