The takeaway from the story is that PET scans and fMRI tests have shown that the brains of teenagers are much different than those of adults.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>The brains of youths are still developing, and\u00a0are works in progress.\u00a0The skills\u00a0a child or pre-teen starts, and continues to\u00a0practice as a teen, are\u00a0the ones that\u00a0their\u00a0brains will continue to develop.\u00a0And those that one avoids, or rarely does, will fall by the wayside.\u00a0So\u00a0it&#8217;s a smart idea for teens to establish\u00a0good work practices during this period, as\u00a0those aptitudes will follow them the rest of their lives.<\/p>\r\n<p>Secondly, teenagers don&#8217;t have fully developed frontal lobes, or a developed\u00a0prefrontal cortex.\u00a0In fact, the prefrontal cortex doesn&#8217;t\u00a0fully form until someone is in their late 20s.
