The Trees at the Quarry's Edge |

I passed a quarry today-
Along the rim of that unnatural pit
stood a line of trees.
It made me wonder;
more so with Spring's breath about me...
In that moment when life awaits its plunge into view,
Small green buds filled with anticipation.
The trees perched upon that awful brink,
yet reaching for the wind.
They could not hold back, you see,
did not give in to impending doom,
but stretched majestically,
comfortable in their quest for life,
having come to terms with their existence,
continued on,
continued on...
