Even as a part-time caregiver I find my energy being zapped/sapped by the demands being put on me. I do know, however, that when I go to pick Linda up for the weekends, her smile seems to fill me with a sense of fulfillment and purpose that I don't have when we're apart. The support of friends and family ebbs and flows with their moods - I have to dig down deep and pull from anywhere I can.

I think that for me it's just acknowledging that the life I am leading now is part - albeit not any part that I could have forseen or would have chosen - of the relationship that Linda and I had prior to her aneurysm. Even though we never married, we lived together as if we were. The "...'til death do you part" thing applies for me.

I made the committment. I plan to stick by it.
